A community kitchen can take many forms. The basics are that a group of people meet up every once in a while and cook up a storm, learning new recipes and getting to know their neighbours in the meantime. Everyone goes home with a few meals per member of their household, refrigerates/freezes/cans/preserves the servings, and saves time later in the month by pulling ready-to-go meals out of the cupboard!
Vulcan’s Community Kitchen is made up of everyone who participates! The initiative evolved out of a loose coalition between Vulcan’s Family and Community Support Services (FCSS), Rainbow Literacy Society, Vulcan County Adult Learning Council, The Learning Centre, and the Vulcan and District Recreation Board.
Come out, learn a few things, and teach us your cooking secrets!
